In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
You, who have wrapped yourself up with a mantle, 1 Stand up for worship during the night, except for some part of it. 2 (Worship Him) for more or less than half of the night 3 or add to it [at will]; and [during that time] recite the Qur'an calmly and distinctly, with thy mind attuned to its meaning. 4 For we shall charge thee with a word of weight. 5 Indeed, the first part of night is heavier in tread, and more upright in speech. 6 Indeed, for you by day is prolonged occupation. 7 Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Lord of the eastern and western regions, with due sincerity. 8 Lord of the East and the West; there is no Allah save Him; so choose thou Him alone for thy defender - 9 And be patient (O Muhammad SAW) with what they say, and keep away from them in a good way. 10 And leave Me (alone to deal with) those in possession of the good things of life, who (yet) deny the Truth; and bear with them for a little while. 11 With Us are Fetters (to bind them), and a Fire (to burn them), 12 And food that chokes and a painful punishment, 13 On a Day whereon the earth and the mountains shall quake, and the mountains shall become a sand-heap poured forth. 14 Lo! We have sent unto you a messenger as witness against you, even as We sent unto Pharaoh a messenger. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger; so We seized him with a heavy Punishment. 16 So how will you save yourselves, if you disbelieve, on a day that will turn children old? 17 The heaven shall rend asunder thereby; His promise is ever brought to fulfillment. 18 Verily, this is an admonition, therefore whosoever will, let him take a Path to His Lord! 19
