Nay! By the moon 32 By the receding night 33 The morning when it is unveiled, 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 it is a warning to man, 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Except those on the right side. 39 In Gardens; they shall be asking, 40 Concerning the guilty: 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They said, “We never used to offer the prayer.” 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 Till death overtook us. 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 Let anyone who seeks guidance do so. 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56
