Commemorate Abraham in the Book: He was upright, a prophet. 41 When he said unto his father: O my father! Why worshippest thou that which heareth not nor seeth, nor can in aught avail thee? 42 Father, a knowledge that has not reached you has come to me. So follow me that I may guide you to a Straight Way. 43 Why do you worship Satan, O father? Verily Satan was disobedient to Ar-Rahman. 44 O my father! I dread lest a chastisement from the Most Gracious befall thee, and then thou wilt become [aware of having been] close unto Satan!" 45 The father said: "Abraham, have you turned away from my gods? If you do not give this up, I shall stone you to death. Now begone from me forever." 46 Abraham said, "Peace be with you. I shall ask my Lord to forgive you; He has been gracious to me. 47 And I will leave you and those you invoke other than Allah and will invoke my Lord. I expect that I will not be in invocation to my Lord unhappy." 48 Thereupon Abraham dissociated himself from his people and the deities they worshipped instead of Allah, and We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob and made each of them a Prophet; 49 And We bestowed of Our Mercy on them, and We granted them lofty honour on the tongue of truth. 50
