1/2 Hizb 33
< random >
۞ We gave Abraham aforetime his rectitude -- for We knew him -- 51 when he said unto his father and his people, "What are these images to which you are so intensely devoted?" 52 They said:"We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said, “Indeed you all you and your forefathers were in open error.” 54 They said: hast thou come unto us with the truth, or art thou of those who sport? 55 He said: Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them; and I am of those who testify unto that. 56 And by Allah I shall surely devise a plot against your idols after ye turned away backward. 57 Then he reduced them to fragments, all save the chief of them, that haply they might have recourse to it. 58 They said, 'Who has. done this with our gods? Surely he is one of the evildoers.' 59 Some said, "We heard a young man, called Abraham, talking about them." 60 Said they: Then bring him before the eyes of the people, perhaps they may bear witness. 61 They said: "Are you the one who has done this to our gods, O Ibrahim (Abraham)?" 62 Said he, “Rather, their chief may have done it; so question them, if they can speak.” 63 Thereupon they turned to their (inner) selves and said (to themselves): "Surely it is you who are the wrong-doers." 64 Then they turned to themselves (their first thought and said): "Indeed you [Ibrahim (Abraham)] know well that these (idols) speak not!" 65 He said: worship ye, then, beside Allah, that which profiteth you not at all, nor it hurteth you? 66 Woe to you for what you worship instead of God. Have you no understanding?" 67 They said: Burn him and help your gods, if you are going to do (anything). 68 "Turn cold, O fire," We said, "and give safety to Abraham." 69 They wished to entrap him, but We made them greater losers. 70 And We delivered him and Lut to the land wherein We had placed Our blessings for the worlds. 71 And We bestowed on him Isaac, and Jacob as an additional gift, and made them righteous. 72 And We made them leaders, guiding (men) by Our Command, and We sent them inspiration to do good deeds, to establish regular prayers, and to practise regular charity; and they constantly served Us (and Us only). 73 And (remember) Lout (Lot), We gave him Hukman (right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) and (religious) knowledge, and We saved him from the town (folk) who practised Al-Khaba'ith (evil, wicked and filthy deeds, etc.). Verily, they were a people given to evil, and were Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient, to Allah). 74 Thus We admitted him to Our grace. He is surely one of the righteous. 75
