And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 It is He whom I expect to forgive my sins on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 "And the whole hosts of Iblis together. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 We have no one to intercede for us before God 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
