The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls [of men's deeds] are unfolded, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 and when Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
