Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In a lofty garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 and arranged cushions 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
