And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 "And Who, I hope will forgive me my faults on the Day of Recompense, (the Day of Resurrection)," 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 when we deemed you [false deities] equal to the Sustainer of all the worlds 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 Were there for us a return, we would be of the believers. 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
