(The tribe of) A’ad denied the Noble Messengers. 123 when their brother Hood said to them, 'Will you not be godfearing? 124 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 fear God, then, and obey me. 126 I seek of you no reward for this; my reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 127 What, you build a monument on every hill merely for fun 128 and erect castles hoping that you will live forever. 129 And whenever you apply force become tyrannical. 130 So guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me 131 "Yea, fear Him Who has bestowed on you freely all that ye know. 132 succoured you with flocks and sons, 133 And orchards and springs. 134 'Indeed, I fear for you the chastisement of a dreadful day.' 135 They said, “It is the same for us, whether you advise us or not be of the preachers.” 136 This is but a custom of the ancients. 137 “And we will not be punished.” 138 In response they denied him – We therefore destroyed them; indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 139 Verily your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 140
