Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By (the winds) that scatter dust. 1 Then by oath of those which carry the burdens. 2 then the easy runners (the ships); 3 and execute the great task of apportioning (rainfall): 4 Undoubtedly, the promise you are given is surely true. 5 and the Judgement shall doubtlessly take place. 6 I swear by the heaven full of ways. 7 Most surely you are at variance with each other in what you say, 8 Only those who are destined to revert, are reverted from it. 9 Woe to the liars 10 who are heedless in the immersion. 11 They ask, "When will the Day of Judgement come?" 12 It will be the Day when they shall be scourged by the Fire 13 'Taste your trial. This is what you have sought to hasten' 14 Surely those who guard (against evil) shall be in gardens and fountains. 15 Taking what their Lord gives them; surely they were before that, the doers of good. 16 They used to sleep but little of the night, 17 praying at dawn for God's pardon, 18 And in their wealth the beggar and the outcast had due share. 19 There are many Signs on earth for those of sure faith, 20 And in yourselves. Then will you not see? 21 And in heaven is your provision, and that you are promised. 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth, it is the truth, even as (it is true) that ye speak. 23
