The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you enveloped in your cloak! 1 Rise up and warn! 2 and exalt your Lord, 3 And thy garments keep free from stain! 4 And all abomination shun! 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 Then when the horn shall be blown, 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 not an easy day for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me and him whom I created alone, 11 And gave him abundant wealth 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 And made things easy for them. 14 and who still desires more. 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 Then he turned back and was arrogant 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], 28 Blackening the skins. 29 there are nineteen [angels] in charge of it -- 30 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 31
