The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 It is the piercing star - 3 [for] no human being has ever been left unguarded. 4 So let man see from what he is created! 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 So I call to witness the rain-producing sky, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 And it is not amusement. 14 They are devising guile, 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 Let, then, the deniers of the truth have their will: let them have their will for a little while. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
