Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 cushions ranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
