۞ Gather all the wicked together and their comrades, and those they had worshipped 22 Beside Allah, and lead them on to the path of the Flaming Fire. 23 And halt them so that they may be questioned. 24 They will be asked, "Why do you not help each other?" 25 But they, that Day, are in surrender. 26 and advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 27 These say, 'Why, you of old would come to us from the right hand.' 28 They will say, "No! It was you who would not believe -- 29 We had no authority over you, in fact, you were a rebellious people. 30 and so we became deserving of the Word of our Lord that we shall be made to suffer chastisement. 31 For we had led you astray. In fact we ourselves were astray." 32 Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty. 33 This is how We deal with the guilty. 34 For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride, 35 and said, "Should we give up our idols for the sake of an insane poet". 36 (They say so although) he brought the Truth and confirmed the veracity of the Messengers. 37 Now certainly you shall be tasting the painful chastisement, 38 but you shall not be recompensed except for what you were doing. 39 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 40 For them there will be a known provision (in Paradise). 41 fruits -- and they high-honoured 42 in the Gardens of Bliss 43 on couches facing each other. 44 Round shall be passed a cup unto them filled with limpid drink: 45 Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof), 46 There shall be no trouble in it, nor shall they be exhausted therewith. 47 And with them shall be damsels of refraining looks, large-eyed 48 As if they were eggs carefully protected. 49 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 50 One of them speaks thus: "Behold, I had [on earth] a close companion 51 Who used to say: Art thou in truth of those who put faith (in his words)? 52 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, are we indeed going to be requited? 53 Then he will say, "Shall we look for him?" 54 He looked down and saw (his friend) in the midst of Hell. 55 'By Allah' he will say, 'you almost destroyed me! 56 But for the Favor of Allah I should have surely been among those who were arraigned (with you in Hell). 57 (Allah informs about that true believer that he said): "Are we then not to die (any more)? 58 "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." 59 This will indeed be great happiness. 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of AzZakkum! 62 We have made this tree a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 Verily it is a tree that springeth forth in the bottom of Flaming Fire. 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of Shayatin (devils); 65 and they eat of it, and of it fill their bellies, 66 then in addition to it they shall have a draught of boiling water to drink; 67 They can only return to hell. 68 Verily they found their fathers gone astray. 69 But they make haste (to follow) in their footsteps. 70 And certainly most of the ancients went astray before them, 71 And We had sent admonishers to them. 72 Therefore see what sort of fate befell those who were warned! 73 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 74
