Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 labouring, weary, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 in a garden sublime, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 and arranged cushions 15 and outspread carpets. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
