▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
No, by the moon! 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 By the morning when it brighteneth. 34 hell is certainly the greatest calamity. 35 it is a warning to man, 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be in captivity for its deeds 38 save the People of the Right Hand 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 About the guilty: 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 “And used to deny the Day of Justice.” 46 Until there came to us the certainty." 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). 52 No! But they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
