The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And extended shade, 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
