(In the days of old), Noah cried to Us, and We are the best to hear prayer. 75 We saved him and his people from great distress, 76 And, his progeny, them We made the survivors (i.e. Shem, Ham and Japheth). 77 And We left for him among the posterity. 78 Peace be upon Nooh, among the entire people. 79 Lo! thus do We reward the good. 80 he was among Our believing servants. 81 We then drowned the others. 82 ۞ And indeed, among his kind was Abraham, 83 He turned to his Lord with a sound heart 84 and when he said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship? 85 Would you serve false deities instead of God? 86 Then what is your thought about the Lord of the worlds?" 87 Then he looked up at the stars (they worshipped), 88 And said, "I am sick," 89 and at that they turned their backs on him and went away. 90 Then he turned to their gods, and said: 'What do you eat? 91 What is wrong with you that you do not speak?" 92 Then did he turn upon them, striking (them) with the right hand. 93 Thereafter they (the people) came to him in haste. 94 Said he: What! do you worship what you hew out? 95 “Whereas Allah has created you and your actions?” 96 They said: "Build for him a building (it is said that the building was like a furnace) and throw him into the blazing fire!" 97 And they desired a war against him, but We brought them low. 98 And he said, “Indeed I shall go to my Lord Who will guide me.” 99 "O my Lord! Grant me a righteous (son)!" 100 We gave him the glad news of the birth of a forbearing son. 101 And when he attained the age of running with him, he said: O my son! verily I have seen in a dream that I am slaughtering thee; so look, what considerest thou? He said: O my father! do that which thou art commanded; thou shalt find me, Allah willing, of the patients. 102 When they had surrendered, and he flung him upon his brow, 103 We called out to him "O Abraham! 104 Of a surety thou hast fulfilled the vision. Verily We! thus We recompense the well-doers. 105 Indeed, this was the clear trial. 106 Then We ransomed him with a tremendous victim. 107 and left him thus to be succeeded by a group [of followers] among later generations: 108 "Peace and salutation to Abraham!" 109 That is how We recompense the righteous: 110 He is truly among Our faithful creatures. 111 And We gave him the glad tidings of Is-haq, a prophet, and of the righteous. 112 and We blessed him and Isaac: but among the offspring of these two there were [destined] to be both doers of good and such as would glaringly sin against themselves. 113
