The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full, 2 But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 unto a mighty day 5 when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)]. 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner. 12 [and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say: "Fables of ancient times!" 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. 18 And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! 19 A book inscribed, 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: 26 for it is composed of all that is most exalting 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 Did not the disbelievers get repaid for what they used to do? 36
God the Almighty always says the truth.
