Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 raised couches, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the heaven how it has been raised? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
