The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 and the day in splendour 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 you strive in various ways. 4 As for him who gave out his wealth (for Allah's sake) and abstained (from disobeying Him), 5 And affirms goodness, 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 And denied the best matter, 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 When he falls (into Hell), his wealth will not help him. 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 and to Us belongs the Hereafter as well as the present world -- 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 whereat none but the most wretched shall be roasted, 15 who belied and turned away, 16 But save him who fears 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 and owes no favour to anyone, which is to be repaid, 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 He verily will be content. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
