O children of Israel, remember the favours I bestowed on you. So keep your pledge to Me, and I will mine to you, and be fearful of Me, 40 And believe in what I have sent down confirming that which is [already] with you, and be not the first to disbelieve in it. And do not exchange My signs for a small price, and fear [only] Me. 41 Do not mix truth with falsehood, or hide the truth when you know it. 42 Be firm in devotion; give zakat (the due share of your wealth for the welfare of others), and bow with those who bow (before God). 43 ۞ Enjoin you Al-Birr (piety and righteousness and each and every act of obedience to Allah) on the people and you forget (to practise it) yourselves, while you recite the Scripture [the Taurat (Torah)]! Have you then no sense? 44 And seek help through patience and prayer, and indeed, it is difficult except for the humbly submissive [to Allah] 45 who reckon that they will meet their Lord and that to Him they will return. 46
