And when thy Lord called to Moses, 'Go to the people of the evildoers, 10 the people of Pharaoh; will they not be godfearing?' 11 He said: "My Lord! Verily, I fear that they will belie me, 12 And my breast straitens, and my tongue is not eloquent, therefore send Thou to Haroun (to help me); 13 Moreover, they keep a grave charge [pending] against me, and I fear that they will slay me." 14 God said, "Indeed not; go both of you with Our signs, We shall be with you, listening [to your call]. 15 Go to the Pharaoh and tell him: 'We bring a message from the Lord of all the worlds 16 ‘That you let the Descendants of Israel go with us.’” 17 [Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life? 18 You spent many years of your life among us and then you committed that deed of yours. You are very ungrateful indeed." 19 (Moses) replied: "I did do that and I was in the wrong, 20 “I therefore went away from you as I feared you – so my Lord commanded me and appointed me as one of the Noble Messengers.” 21 And is it a favor of which you remind me that you have enslaved the children of Israel? 22 Fir'awn said: and what is the Lord of the worlds? 23 Moses answered: "The Lord of the heavens and the earth and of all that is between them, if you were only to believe." 24 Said he to those about him, 'Do you not hear?' 25 [And Moses] continued: "[He is] your Sustainer, [too,] as well as the Sustainer of your forefathers of old!" 26 (The Pharaoh) said (to his nobles): "Your apostle who has been sent to you, is certainly mad." 27 Musa (Moses) said: "Lord of the east and the west, and all that is between them, if you did but understand!" 28 'If you take any other god except myself' he (Pharaoh) replied, 'you shall be thrown into prison' 29 'What, even if I brought you something clear' said he (Moses). 30 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "Bring it forth then, if you are of the truthful!" 31 So he cast his staff, and behold, it was a serpent manifest. 32 And he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white for the observers. 33
