(Muhammad), remind them, by the Grace of your Lord, that you are neither a soothsayer or an insane person. 29 Or do they say [of you], "A poet for whom we await a misfortune of time?" 30 Say thou: "Wait, [then,] hopefully; behold, I, too, shall hopefully wait with you!" 31 Is this what their senses tell them, or are they a rebellious people? 32 Or say they: he hath fabricated it: aye they will not believe. 33 Let them produce a scripture like it, if what they say is true. 34 Were they created by nothing, or were they themselves the creators? 35 Or, did they create the heavens and the earth? No, their belief is not certain! 36 Do they own the treasures of your Lord? Have they any authority over God? 37 Or do they have a ladder whereon they can climb and attempt to listen (to what is transpiring in the Higher Realm)? Then, let any of them who has listened to it produce a clear proof of it. 38 Or, [if you believe in God, how can you believe that] He has [chosen to have] daughters, whereas you yourselves would have [only] sons? 39 Or askest thou them for a wage, and so they are weighed down with debt? 40 Is with them the Unseen, and they write it down! 41 Or do they desire a war? But those who disbelieve shall be the vanquished ones in war. 42 Or have they any god beside Allah? Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe as partner (unto Him)! 43 (So obstinate are they that) even if they were to see some fragments of the sky falling down they would still say: “It is only a mass of cloud.” 44 Leave them then till they meet that day of theirs wherein they shall be made to swoon (with terror): 45 The day on which their struggle shall not avail them aught, nor shall they be helped. 46 But, verily, for those who are bent on doing evil, there is suffering in store [even] closer at hand than that [supreme suffering in the hereafter]: but most of them are not aware of it. 47 So wait patiently (O Muhammad SAW) for the Decision of your Lord, for verily, you are under Our Eyes, and glorify the Praises of your Lord when you get up from sleep. 48 and proclaim the praise of thy Lord in the night, and at the declining of the stars. 49
