The Human (Al-Insan)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Was there not a period of time when man was nothing worth mentioning? 1 Verily We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm, in order to try him: So We gave him (the gifts), of Hearing and Sight. 2 Surely We guided him upon the way whether he be thankful or unthankful. 3 For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. 4 Verily the pious shall drink of a cup whereof the admixture is like unto camphor. 5 a fountain at which the worshipers of Allah drink and make it gush forth abundantly; 6 Those who fulfil their vows and fear the Day whose evil shall be diffused far and wide, 7 And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, 8 [Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude. 9 Indeed, We fear from our Lord a Day austere and distressful." 10 So God will protect them from the evil of that day, and grant them happiness and joy, 11 And their recompense shall be Paradise, and silken garments, because they were patient. 12 [They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold. 13 The shade thereof is close upon them and the clustered fruits thereof bow down. 14 and passed around them shall be silver vessels, and crystal goblets, 15 Godblets of silver, they shall have filled them to exact measure. 16 And they shall be made to drink therein a cup the admixture of which shall be ginger, 17 A spring there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ And there shall go round unto them youths ever-young. When thou seest them thou wouldst deem them pearls unstrung. 19 When thou seest, thou wilt see there bliss and high estate. 20 In it they adorn clothes of fine green silk and gold embroidery; and they are given silver bracelets to wear; and their Lord gave them pure wine to drink. 21 It will be said to them, “This is your reward – indeed your efforts have been appreciated.” 22
