He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 you pay him no heed. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 lofty and pure, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 and dense orchards, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
