The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do not these think that they shall be raised again 4 On a grievous day, 5 a Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 A written record. 9 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 By no means! Verily on that Day from their Lord they will be shut out. 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny. 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! 19 (It is) a marked Book, 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They will be given pure wine out of sealed containers 25 The sealing of it is (with) musk; and for that let the aspirers aspire. 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 and when they saw them they said, 'Lo, these men are astray!' 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
