He who is negligent to remember the Merciful One, to him We assign a satan as his boon companion, 36 Satan will prevent them from the right path while they think that they have the right guidance. 37 Until, when he comes to Us [at Judgement], he says [to his companion], "Oh, I wish there was between me and you the distance between the east and west - how wretched a companion." 38 And never will it benefit you that Day, when you have wronged, that you are [all] sharing in the punishment. 39 Canst thou then make the deaf to hear, or give direction to the blind or to such as (wander) in manifest error? 40 So if We take you away, We shall then indeed take revenge from them. 41 Or We shall show thee that (accomplished) which We have promised them: for verily We shall prevail over them. 42 So, hold fast to the Book that has been revealed to you, you are surely on the right path, 43 It is a (source) of greatness for you and your people. You will surely be questioned about it. 44 And ask those of Our messengers whom We sent before thee: Did We ever appoint gods to be worshipped beside the Beneficent? 45
