In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By (the wind) those sent (as horses') mane (in succession), 1 By the raging hurricanes, 2 and raise (clouds) and scatter them around, 3 and the severally severing 4 And then by those that instil Remembrance into the hearts. 5 to provide excuses for some and to give warnings to others: 6 that whatever with which you have been warned will inevitably come to pass. 7 When the stars are extinguished, 8 When the heaven is cleft asunder; 9 and the mountains are blown away, 10 and when the Messengers' time is set, 11 for what Day has this been appointed? 12 To the day of decision. 13 And what will convey unto thee what the Day of Decision is! - 14 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 15 Did We not destroy the earlier peoples? 16 And We shall let them be followed by those of later times: 17 Thus do We deal with men of sin. 18 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 19 Did We not create you from an abject fluid? 20 Then We lodged you in a secure place (the womb) 21 Till an appointed term, 22 So We did measure, and We are the Best to measure (the things). 23 Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth! 24 Have We not made the earth to draw together to itself, 25 Both for the living and the dead, 26 Have We not placed high mountains upon it and filled you with sweet water? 27 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 28 "Go to what you used to deny; 29 Depart unto the shadow three branched: 30 "(Which yields) no shade of coolness, and is of no use against the fierce Blaze. 31 and throwing up sparks as huge as towers 32 sparks like to golden herds. 33 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies! 34 That will be a Day when they shall not be able to speak. 35 Nor shall they be permitted so that they might excuse themselves. 36 On that day, woe would be those who have rejected God's revelations! 37 That will be a Day of Sorting out! We shall gather you together and those before (you)! 38 If you now have any conspiracy, carry it out on Me. 39 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 40
