Alshu'araa' 10 of 11
The People of the Woods denied the Noble Messengers. 176 When Shu'aib said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 177 I am for you an honest Messenger. 178 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 179 my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 180 ۞ Give a full measure and be not of those who diminish; 181 And weigh (things) with a right balance, 182 "And withhold not things justly due to men, nor do evil in the land, working mischief. 183 "And fear Him Who created you and (who created) the generations before (you)" 184 They replied, "You are bewitched. 185 and a mere mortal like us. We think you are a liar. 186 Cause, then, fragments of the sky to fall down upon us, if thou art a man of truth!" 187 He said: 'My Lord knows what you are doing' 188 Then they branded him a liar, whereupon the chastisement of the Day of Canopy overtook them. It was the chastisement of a very awesome day. 189 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 190 And lo! thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
