And he whose sight is dim to the remembrance of the Beneficent, We assign unto him a devil who becometh his comrade; 36 Surely the (devils) obstruct them from the path, though they think they are rightly guided, -- 37 Till, when (such a one) comes to Us, he says [to his Qarin (Satan / devil companion)] "Would that between me and you were the distance of the two easts (or the east and west)" a worst (type of) companion (indeed)! 38 It will be said [to such a person], "You have done wrong. Having partners in punishment will be of no avail to you today." 39 What! can you then make the deaf to hear or guide the blind and him who is in clear error? 40 And even if We take you (O Muhammad SAW) away, We shall indeed take vengeance on them. 41 or We shall show you what We have promised them; for surely We have complete power over them. 42 So hold thou fast to the Revelation sent down to thee; verily thou art on a Straight Way. 43 And verily it is an admonition unto thee and thy people; and presently ye will be questioned. 44 Yet [above all else,] ask any of Our apostles whom We sent forth before thy time whether We have ever allowed that deities other than the Most Gracious be worshipped! 45
