The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount, 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 In a Scroll unfolded; 3 And the House frequented, 4 The roof raised high, 5 And the swollen sea 6 The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. 7 No one can avert it. 8 On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion 9 The mountains move and fly away, 10 Woe on that Day to those who deny the truth, 11 That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. 12 the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: 13 (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. 14 Then is this magic, or do you not see? 15 “Enter it – now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient – it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 Lo! those who kept their duty dwell in gardens and delight, 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. 19 Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 And We provide them with fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
