The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
