Before him Noah cried out to Us, and We heard his prayer. We saved him and all his household from a great distress. 76 We helped him against his people who rejected Our revelations. They were surely a wicked people, so We drowned them all. 77 And (remember) Dawud (David) and Sulaiman (Solomon), when they gave judgement in the case of the field in which the sheep of certain people had pastured at night and We were witness to their judgement. 78 We made Solomon understand the case, and bestowed on each wisdom and knowledge, We subdued the al-jibal (mountains) with David to sing Our praises, and at-tair (birds). It is We who did it. 79 And We taught him the fashioning of coats of armor to protect you from your [enemy in] battle. So will you then be grateful? 80 And unto Solomon (We subdued) the wind in its raging. It set by his command toward the land which We had blessed. And of everything We are Aware. 81 And of the Shayatin (devils) (from the jinns) were some who dived for him, and did other work besides that; and it was We Who guarded them. 82 ۞ AND [remember] Job, when he cried out to his Sustainer, "Affliction has befallen me: but Thou art the most merciful of the merciful!" 83 So We answered him, and removed the affliction that was upon him, and We gave his people, and the like of them with them, mercy from Us, and a Reminder to those who serve. 84 And (remember) Isma'il (Ishmael), and Idris (Enoch) and Dhul-Kifl (Isaiah), all were from among As-Sabirin (the patient ones, etc.). 85 We encompassed them in Our mercy; they were righteous people. 86 And [mention] the man of the fish, when he went off in anger and thought that We would not decree [anything] upon him. And he called out within the darknesses, "There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers." 87 Then we heard his prayer and saved him from the anguish. Thus we save believers. 88 And Zachariah when he called to his Lord saying: 'Lord, do not let me remain by myself; You are the Best of inheritors' 89 So We answered him, and bestowed on him John, and We set his wife right for him; truly they vied with one another, hastening to good works, and called upon Us out of yearning and awe; and they were humble to Us. 90 And she who guarded her virginity, so We breathed into her of Our spirit and appointed her and her son to be a sign unto all beings. 91 Truly! This, your Ummah [Sharia or religion (Islamic Monotheism)] is one religion, and I am your Lord, therefore worship Me (Alone). [Tafsir Ibn Kathir] 92 But they split up their affair between them; all shall return to Us. 93
