The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the Star when it goes down,- 1 This fellow-man of yours has not gone astray, nor is he deluded, 2 Nor does he speak out of desire. 3 This is only revelation communicated, 4 He has been taught by the Extremely Powerful. 5 Endued with Wisdom: for he appeared (in stately form); 6 being on the higher horizon. 7 Then he drew near and drew closer 8 And was at a distance of two bows' length or (even) nearer, 9 And He revealed to His servant what He revealed. 10 The heart did not lie [about] what it saw. 11 What! do you then dispute with him as to what he saw? 12 Indeed he saw him a second time, 13 to the Lot-tree (in the seven heavens) 14 Near it is the Garden of Refuge - 15 When the lote-tree was being enveloped, by whatever around it. 16 his eyes did not swerve, nor did they stray 17 Certainly he saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have ye then considered Al-Lat and AL-'uzza: 19 And Manat, the third, the other? 20 Are yours the males and His the females? 21 That indeed is an unfair division -- 22 They are but names which you have named, you and your fathers, for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow but a guess and that which they themselves desire, whereas there has surely come to them the Guidance from their Lord! 23 Shall man have whatsoever he wisheth for! 24 Rather, to Allah belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 25
