The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 and banana trees, 29 and spreading shade 30 and flowing water, 31 and fruits abounding 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
