The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 About which they have been differing? 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
