And indeed Nooh prayed to Us – so what an excellent Acceptor of Prayer We are! 75 We saved him and his people from great distress, 76 And made his progeny to endure (on this earth); 77 And We kept his praise among the latter generations. 78 Salamun (peace) be upon Nuh (Noah) (from Us) among the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)!" 79 Thus do We reward all those who do good. 80 He was one of Our believing servants. 81 We then drowned the others. 82 ۞ Abraham was one of his followers. 83 When he came to his Lord with a heart compliant, 84 When he said unto his father and his folk: What is it that ye worship? 85 Would you serve false deities instead of God? 86 What do you think of the Lord of the whole Universe?” 87 Then he looked up at the stars (they worshipped), 88 and said: 'Surely, I am sick (of what you worship)' 89 So they turned away from him, and departed (for fear of the disease). 90 He turned to their gods and said, "Do you not eat? 91 "What is the matter with you that you speak not?" 92 And he turned upon them smiting them with his right hand. 93 Then came the others to him hastening. 94 He said: 'Do you worship what you, yourselves have carved 95 when it is God who has created you and all your handiwork?" 96 "Build a pyre for him and throw him into the raging fire." 97 They plotted against him, but We brought humiliation upon them. 98 And [Abraham] said: "Verily, I shall [leave this land and] go wherever my Sustainer will guide me!" 99 Lord, grant me a righteous son.” 100 So We gave him the glad tidings of a forbearing boy. 101 Then, when (the son) reached (the age of) (serious) work with him, he said: "O my son! I see in vision that I offer thee in sacrifice: Now see what is thy view!" (The son) said: "O my father! Do as thou art commanded: thou will find me, if Allah so wills one practising Patience and Constancy!" 102 When they submitted to the will of God, and (Abraham) laid (his son) down prostrate on his temple, 103 And We called out to him saying: O Ibrahim! 104 thou hast confirmed the vision; even so We recompense the good-doers. 105 This was indeed a plain trial. 106 And We rescued him in exchange of a great sacrifice. (The sacrifice of Ibrahim and Ismail – peace be upon them – is commemorated every year on 10, 11 and 12 Zil Haj). 107 And We left (this blessing) for him among generations (to come) in later times: 108 Salamun (peace) be upon Ibrahim (Abraham)!" 109 Thus do We reward the good. 110 he was among Our believing servants. 111 And We gave him the good news of Isaac, a Prophet and among the righteous ones. 112 And We sent blessings upon him and Ishaq; and among their descendants – some who do good deeds, and some who clearly wrong themselves. 113
