The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has there come on man a while of time when he was a thing unremembered? 1 Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing. 2 We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. 3 Verily, We have prepared for the disbelievers iron chains, iron collars, and a blazing Fire. 4 Indeed the virtuous will drink from a cup, containing a mixture of Kafoor. 5 The Kafoor is a spring, from which the chosen bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to flow wherever they wish inside their palaces. 6 They fulfill their vow and dread a Day the evil whereof shall be widespreading. 7 And they give food out of love for Him to the poor and the orphan and the captive: 8 (Saying): We feed you, for the sake of Allah only. We wish for no reward nor thanks from you; 9 "We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath from the side of our Lord." 10 So Allah shall guard them against the woe of that Day, and will procure them freshness and joy, 11 And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk. 12 Where they will recline on couches feeling neither heat of the sun nor intense cold. 13 The shades of the garden will be closely spread over them and it will be easy for them to reach the fruits. 14 Rounds of silver cups and silver beakers, looking like glass, will be presented upon them. 15 goblets of silver that they have precisely measured. 16 And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger 17 (The water of) a spring therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them shall go youths never altering in age; when you see them you will think them to be scattered pearls. 19 And when thou lookest them thou shalt behold delight and a dominion magnificent. 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and of brocades. And adorned they shall be with bracelets of silver: and their Lord shall give them drink a beverage pure. 21 "Verily this is a Reward for you, and your Endeavour is accepted and recognised." 22
