Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ I do not (need to) swear by this town (Mecca) 1 And thou shalt be allowed in yonder city 2 And by the giver of birth, and whom he fathered, 3 Certainly We have created man to be in distress. 4 Thinks he that none can overcome him? 5 He says, "I have spent enormous wealth." 6 Does he think that no one has seen him? 7 Did We not give him two eyes, 8 And a tongue and two lips? 9 And did We not show him the two highroads (of good and evil)? 10 Yet he has not scaled the height. 11 How will you comprehend what the Steep ascent is? -- 12 It is the setting free of a slave 13 Or, feeding, in a day of privation, 14 To an orphan near of kin. 15 Or to a Miskin (poor) afflicted with misery. 16 so that he becomes one of those who believe, charge each other to be patient, and charge each other to be merciful. 17 They are those on the Right Hand (the dwellers of Paradise), 18 But those who disbelieve Our revelations, their place will be on the left hand. 19 The Fire will be shut over them (i.e. they will be enveloped by the Fire without any opening or window or outlet. 20
True are the words of God the Almighty.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
