The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
