And when thy Lord called Moses, saying: Go unto the wrongdoing folk, 10 The people of Firon: Will they not guard (against evil)? 11 He said: "My Lord! Verily, I fear that they will belie me, 12 And my breast straitens, and my tongue is not eloquent, therefore send Thou to Haroun (to help me); 13 And they have a crime against me, therefore I fear that they may slay me. 14 He said: Nay, verily. So go ye twain with Our tokens. Lo! We shall be with you, Hearing. 15 Go to Pharaoh, both of you, and say, 'We are messengers from the Lord of the Worlds: 16 Let the children of Israel go with us!'" 17 (Pharaoh) said (unto Moses): Did we not rear thee among us as a child? And thou didst dwell many years of thy life among us, 18 "And thou didst a deed of thine which (thou knowest) thou didst, and thou art an ungrateful (wretch)!" 19 He (Moses) replied: 'Indeed, I did that when I was among those who stray. 20 "So I fled from you when I feared you. But my Lord has granted me Hukman (i.e. religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood), and appointed me as one of the Messengers. 21 And this is the favor with which you oblige me: You have made the Israelites your slaves. 22 Pharaoh said: "And who is this Lord of the Universe?" 23 [Moses] said, "The Lord of the heavens and earth and that between them, if you should be convinced." 24 Pharaoh said to those around him, "Did you hear?" 25 He said, 'Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers, the ancients' 26 [Pharaoh] exclaimed: "Behold, [this] your 'apostle' who [claims that he] has been sent unto you is mad indeed! 27 He said, “The Lord of the East and the West and all that is between them; if you have sense.” 28 Pharaoh said, "If you put forward any god other than me, I will surely put you in prison". 29 Moses said: "Even if I were to bring a Clear Sign to you?" 30 Said he: Bring it then, if you are of the truthful ones. 31 So (Moses) threw his rod, and behold, it was a serpent, plain (for all to see)! 32 And he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white for the observers. 33
