So We saved the children of Israel from degrading suffering 30 [inflicted on them] by Pharaoh, seeing that he was truly outstanding among those who waste their own selves; 31 and We chose them, out of a knowledge above the nations (of their time). 32 and showed them signs in which there was a clear test. 33 Yet those who deny the truth say, 34 "There is not but our first death, and we will not be resurrected. 35 Bring back our fathers, if ye speak the truth! 36 Are they better, or the folk of Tubb'a and those before them? We destroyed them, for surely they were guilty. 37 We created not the heavens and earth, and all that between them is, in play; 38 We did not create them save with a purpose, yet most people have no knowledge of this. 39 Surely the day of separation is their appointed term, of all of them 40 the Day when a friend shall be of no avail to his friend nor shall they be helped, 41 except for those to whom God grants mercy. He is Majestic and All-merciful. 42
