NAY, but consider the moon! 32 And [by] the night when it departs 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 A warning unto humankind 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 Sitting in the gardens, asking 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They shall say: We were not of those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors. 48 Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 Nay! But they fear not the Hereafter (from Allah's punishment). 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 So whoever wills may heed advice from it. 55 But none will keep it in remembrance except as Allah wills: He is the Lord of Righteousness, and the Lord of Forgiveness. 56
