The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there not been over Man a long period of Time, when he was nothing - (not even) mentioned? 1 We created the human being from the union of sperm and egg to test him. We gave him hearing and vision. 2 Indeed, We have guided him to the path, he is either grateful or ungrateful. 3 We have indeed kept prepared chains, and shackles and a blazing fire for the disbelievers. 4 As to the Righteous, they shall drink of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Kafur,- 5 a spring from which God's servants will drink, making it gush forth in branches. 6 They fulfil their pledges, and fear a day the evil of which is widespread. 7 they give food, despite their love for it, to the poor and orphans and captives, 8 Saying: we feed you only for the sake of Allah; we desire not from you any recompense or thanks. 9 Verily we dread from our Lord a Day grim and distressful. 10 Therefor Allah hath warded off from them the evil of that day, and hath made them find brightness and joy; 11 And their recompense shall be Paradise, and silken garments, because they were patient. 12 They will recline therein on couches and they will find neither excessive heat nor cold. 13 near them shall be its shades, and its clusters hung meekly down, 14 And there shall be made to go round about them vessels of silver and goblets which are of glass, 15 crystal of silver that they have measured -- very exactly. 16 There are they watered with a cup whereof the mixture is of Zanjabil, 17 (Of) a fountain therein which is named Salsabil. 18 ۞ And there shall go round unto them youths ever-young. When thou seest them thou wouldst deem them pearls unstrung. 19 When thou seest, thou wilt see there bliss and high estate. 20 On their bodies will be garments of the finest green silk and brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give them a purest draught to drink. 21 Behold, this is a recompense for you, and your striving is thanked.' 22
