The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
