Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 In a lofty garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 and couches raised high, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
