Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 “The One Who created me, so He will guide me.” 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 Do not betray me 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 And they will say while they dispute with one another, 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
