The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
