S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Sad, and by the Qur'an full of exhortation! 1 Verily those who disbelieve are in vainglory and schism. 2 How many generations have We destroyed before them. They called: 'The time is neither of escape, nor safety' 3 Now they marvel that a warner has come to them from among them; and the unbelievers say, 'This is a lying sorcerer. 4 They say, "Has he condemned all other gods but One? This is certainly strange". 5 And the eminent among them went forth, [saying], "Continue, and be patient over [the defense of] your gods. Indeed, this is a thing intended. 6 We have not heard of this in later religion. This is naught but an invention. 7 Hath the reminder been unto him (alone) among us? Nay, but they are in doubt concerning My reminder; nay but they have not yet tasted My doom. 8 Or, have they the treasuries of the Mercy of your Lord, the Almighty, the Giving? 9 Or, is theirs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them? Then let them ascend by (their) means! 10 Here there is a host of the confederates only to be defeated. 11 Even before them the people of Noah, 'Ad, the mighty Pharoah, 12 So also did the people of Thamud, Lot, and the dwellers of the Forest. 13 Not one of them but belied the Messengers, therefore My Torment was justified, 14
